Kittens, kittens, everywhere. April sees the start of many kittens joining
the cat community. Unfortunately shelters see an increase of unwanted kittens
from April to late autumn. KittyKit
would urge you to help out with these special sanctuaries and visit your local
shelter to find your forever Kitty. It’s hard to imagine life without your
feline family member isn’t it? Yet many end up in shelters before they have
even had the chance to show their human how much love they can give.
We would like to celebrate your kindness. Send a photo of your cat or kitten you have
given a forever home to info@kittykit.co.uk titled forever my Kitty. We will then share
on our social media and send you a discount code.
We have a fabulous range of toys, Cat collars, beds, scratchers
and more for kittens as well as fully grown cats.
KittyKit have 3 cats all rehomed as adults. Alfie, king Alf
to us. He is a Burmese who was a caged stud for the first 5 years of his life.
When his “work” was done he was no longer wanted. We wanted him very much, to
show him the real life of a cat! Oh how he played and cuddled! These days, being
almost 10, he likes to reside in the top bunk of the tower and survey his subjects.
As soon as one of us sits down we have Alfie snuggled in with lots of purrs. King
Alf has the softest fur, just like velvet.
Next along came Lily, Lily Kit to her friends. She was a
caged snow Bengal, who was bread too early and ruined her tummy. She was not
“needed” by the breeder. Guess what? KittyKit needed her very much! With the
biggest blue eyes I have ever seen on a kitty I fell in love straight away. The
love was very one sided for a lengthy time. I knew this because she used to
bite me, a lot, and deeply. Still, I loved this Kit and knew this was a result
of her being kept in a cage with a stud that she did not like on bit. Slowly
she stopped the biting. My plaster use went down and after 2 years we can just
play and cuddle. Her favourite activity in the whole world is playing with a
ball and feather teaser.
Once Lily is had settled and turned 3 years old we decided
to respond to a plea for help. A 6 year old Sphinx had to find a new home due
to the family having to move where no cats were allowed. I know! Who would
think people don’t allow cats! What up with that? So we have now got Teddy.
Even though he is from the hairless bread, he does have a dusting of fur with
tufty bits at the base of his ears, tail and paws. He looks like a well-loved,
thread bear teddy. So what else could we call him? We changed his name to help
him settle in at KittyKit. So far he is “at one” with Alfie and holds Lily Kit
in contempt. Lily Kit really wants to play with Teddy and slowly he is
tolerating her giving him a sniff! Not too much, just a little or he shouts at
her. He likes to play with the cat nip toys so I am sure soon Teddy will be a
play mate for Lily and a cuddle mate for Alfie. He and Alfie already share my
lap after only a few weeks.
Rehoming an adult cat takes time, patience and love,
unconditional love. After all that is what your Kitty will give you.
